Croft Street’s Rafael judges top competition

22 September 2014

Young-Fish-Frier-LogoCroft Street Fisheries’ Proprietor Rafael Chandler, in his capacity as NFFF Regional Director, has been very busy recently judging for the Drywite Young Fish Frier of the Year Award category of the 2015 National Fish & Chip Awards.

The award celebrates and rewards the best young fish friers across the UK whilst aspiring to encourage and nurture their individual skills and talent.

Competitors travelled to the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) training school based in Leeds where they faced industry experts during a full day of judging, testing them on all aspects of being a great fish frier.

Rafael Chandler said, "It was a pleasure to be asked to judge the third round of the Young Fish Frier of the Year competition, the standard was once again extremely high and it’s wonderful to see the younger generation being so keen and enthusiastic about their careers in the fish and chip industry.”

Raf himself was runner up in the competition in 2006 and Croft Street’s Head Frier Jessica was a finalist in 2011.
